Lately, and maybe always, I’ve been obsessed with coins — despite never collecting them. From ideas about new local currencies to the tangibility of them as talismans, they call something up in me. Even if they haven’t fully found their place yet. So for now one coin randomly generates at the top of this site as a little decoration.
I’m especially fond of coin (1) (in fact not a coin, but a commodity — and yet its shape is perfect). The plus, or cross, is a non-religious symbol here but lends itself to a similar grounding: a reminder of trying to stay balanced between different axes:
- the individual ↔ the collective
- the present ↔ the future
- mittigate ↔ adapt
- systemic ↔ direct
- effort ↔ affordance
- ignorance ↔ infomania
